Google is certainly going serious with building its touted Chromebook that runs on its new Google Chrome OS. The online search giant has tasked two of its partners to develop this new ultra-portable notebook. As such, one of its partners, Acer, will finally be bringing the new AC700 Chromebook in the US this month.
The new Acer AC700 Chromebook will run on an Atom N570 dual core processor with 2GB DDR3 RAM and a 16GB SSD. Other feature include two USB 2.0 ports, a built-in 4-in-1 card reader, and a 1.3MP HD webcam. It weighs around 2.95 pounds and measures a slim one-inch thickness.
The Acer AC700 Chromebook has an 11.6 inch HD Widescreen LCD display and features an HDMI output to allow video streaming into HDTV’s and other similar displays. Its 6-cell battery is good enough for 6 hours of continuous use. The WiFi ready Acer AC700 Chromebook will be available in the US at Amazon this month and is expected to cost around US$350. A 3G version of the ultra portable will be available by summer.
