Review » ECWOX Elegant Spy Watch Series

Review » ECWOX Elegant Spy Watch Series
It seems that discreet video recording seems to have become more and more popular. Even gadgets like watches have being affixed with built-in cameras in order to have this video recording function. And even more surprisingly, there are watches like the new ECWOX Elegant Spy Watch Series that give the watches that touch of elegance that even James Bond would approve.

ECWOX, a Korean company, has come up with the Elegant Series of attractive looking spy watches that feature discreet video recording function in 720p. These watches are designed to be waterproof as well. Not only that, these spy watches are available for both in men and women styles. The ECWOX Elegant Spy Watch Series is expected to be available in the Korean market any time now. It might also be made available in other countries later on. As to how these spy watches may be priced, that seems to be confidential for now.

Review » Cadence 4-Bit Chronograph Watch

Review » Cadence 4-Bit Chronograph Watch

Do you love collecting timepieces as a hobby? For the more notable names in the industry, this can end up being a pretty expensive hobby, but the Cadence Watch Company has something special for you watch lovers in the form of the new 4-Bit Chronograph Watch. Not only does it look subtle, but it is also classy that notches up a point for geeks who want to impress their dates but without a Tag Heuer or an equivalent.

Apart from being able to tell the time (duh!), the Cadence 4-Bit Chronograph watch will also throw in the functionality of a chronograph and Universal Coordinated Time (UTC). You won’t get Arabic or Latin numerals, but rather, “see” the numbers in 4-bit binary. To recap, binary is a system of 1’s and 0’s which all computers ultimately rely on, and wearing this won’t make you look out of place even in black tie affairs.

As for the other functions and features on the 4-Bit Chronograph Watch, they are as follows :-
  • Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) display – the standard time by which the world regulates clocks, time and computer servers
  • 42mm stainless steel case – striking appearance, perfect for the boardroom or on the go
  • Luminescent watch hands – against the black face of the watch adds to the sophisticated look
  • Genuine leather wristband – with subtle saddle stitched two part leather strap and stainless steel buckle
  • Miyota quartz watch movement – makes for an extremely reliable timekeeper that never requires winding
  • Water resistant to 5ATM – convenient for everyday wearing
  • Sapphire coated quartz glass – helps prevent watch face from becoming scratched
The 4-Bit Chronograph Watch will cost you $195 a pop as it goes on sale from July onwards, although those who know that this is something they definitely want from the bottom of their hearts can take advantage of an early bird offer, receiving a 40% pre-order discount before then.

REVIEW >> Snugg Luxury Wrist Strap for Apple iPod nano Review

There are a multitude of watchband straps for the 6th generation Apple iPod nano, and I’ve already reviewed a couple.  Each strap is a little different from the others, and it may require some looking to find exactly the one you’ll like best.  Some lend themselves more to using them as a sports strap while exercising, while others will work better for simply listening to music and checking the time.  This band from Snugg is sophisticated enough to turn your nano into a nice wristwatch.  I received a Luxury Wrist Strap for review.  Let’s give it a look.

The Luxury Wrist Strap is available only in black.  The strap is made of a rubbery black plastic.  The area where the nano clips on is made of a hard plastic, and the buckle appears to be brushed aluminum.  It has double strap keepers made of the same rubbery material as the strap.

Fully extended, it measures 9.25”, and it’s about 1.4” at the widest point and 0.75” at the narrowest point of the band.  It should be adjustable to fit a wrist as small as about 6” and as large as about 8”.  The back of the strap has raised ridges along the strap edges.  This should minimize the amount of strap coming into contact with your skin.  Hopefully, this will keep your arm cooler and reduce sweating under the plastic strap.

The area where the nano clips has a large cutout in one side.  This is for the hinged side of the nano.  Opposite the large cutout is a rectangular slot.  The “tooth” on the open side of the nano’s clip fits in this slot.  The nano is held surprisingly firmly.  It took a little effort to open the clip and remove the nano once it is seated firmly on the wrist strap.

The nano is completely exposed on the Snugg watch strap.  The back of the clip will be in contact with your skin.  The nano itself will have no protective covering for the screen or body, so it could be scratched or banged into something as you move your arm.

The Snugg strap plus the nano make a very nice looking, very large watch.  It’s comfortable to wear, but I do think the rubbery plastic band will make your arm sweaty if you intend to wear this while exercising or even on a hot, humid day.

The Snugg band orients the nano so that its controls don’t interfere with hand movement.  The sleep/wake and volume buttons and the docking connector and headphone jack will be on the left and right sides of your wrist.  You’ll be able to plug headphones or a Bluetooth dongle for headphones or a Nike + Sports receiver into the docking connector without interfering with hand movements.  Adjusting the sound feels very natural when the buttons are oriented to the outside of my wrist.

The Snugg Luxury Wrist Strap for iPod nano is an attractive watch band.  It looks sophisticated enough to wear to work, but it can be used in casual situations.  I like the orientation of the controls, but I wish the nano had a bit of coverage for protection against bumps and scratches.  The fit is tight enough that I don’t think you could use the nano in a silicone case, though.  I must say that the black watch band looks very nice with the colors of the iPod nano.  Maybe a clear sticker-type skin added to the nano would be sufficient protection for use with the Snugg wrist strap.

REVIEW: WeWood Chrono Watch

While many of us use our phones these days to tell the time, there are others who still prefer the more traditional method of wearing a watch. Of course, such a timepiece might be made out of classic metal, but how about getting closer to nature with the WeWood Chrono Watch from ThinkGeek?

This unique timepiece is made out from 100% natural wood, helping you feel better after you decide to fork out $119.99 for this, since WeWood has pledged to plant a tree for every watch purchased. Talk about a proactive method of changing the world into a better place.

Hopefully this isn’t something that is easy to catch fire, but on the other hand, if a push comes to a shove, you can always keep your family nice and warm by tossing this into the fire as fuel when the apocalypse descends on us.

REVIEW: Atom Watch – you don’t have to be a mutant to own one

Have you watched X-Men: First Class already? If your answer is no, I would suggest you have a go at it – after all, it isn’t every day that a superhero story is played back, showing off the more human side of things while concentrating more on relationships and their dynamics mixed with ideology instead of just plenty of adrenaline pumping special effects. So what if you aren’t a mutant – that does not disqualify you from picking up the Atom Watch.

This $119.99 timepiece will showcase the building block of all matter, where it is now available in a cool looking wristwatch form factor. With a 3D design that represents each component of the atom, you have hour and minute hands that will follow the path of orbiting electrons, while the second hand will originate from the nucleus. Might be something that will help remind your kid of an atom’s make up even in the exam room, no?

REVIEW: Nyko Reveals Gear for Nearsighted Kinect and Longer-Lasting Nintendo 3DS

Gaming gear maker Nyko unveils an array of helpful accessories for your gaming devices at this year’s E3. First of the bunch is the Zoom for Kinect, a clip-on spectacles that is set right in front of Kinect’s sensor bar, allowing you to get 40 percent closer to the device with no loss of function. This makes motion gaming with Kinect a whole lot of fun even in smaller spaces.

Meanwhile, the Nyko Play Clock (pictured, left) is a charging dock for Nintendo 3DS that also functions as an alarm clock. Why you ask? Perhaps someone out there would rather use his 3DS as an wakee-upper rather than the iPhone, the iPod, or let alone an actual alarm clock.

Finally, Nyko rolls out not one, but three new extended battery packs for the Nintendo 3DS for longer battery life. The Shock n’ Rock brings triple battery life, vibration feedback, and four speakers. The Power Grip is an external battery that not only triples the battery life, but is also ergonomic to handle. And the Game Boost (pictured, right) is a simple snap-on accessory, giving your 3DS an extra hour or two of gameplay.

All of these accessories still have mysterious prices and availability dates, so you better keep an eye here for more updates.

REVIEW: Slyde HD3 - digital watch with different virtual screens

Slyde company has introduced a unique digital watch HD3, developed by designer Jörg Haysekom (Jorg Hysek). Watch is equipped with LED touch screen (OLED possible option) with moving vertically and horizontally different virtual screens. User can choose whatever background and layout he wants with a touch of a finger.

Watch case is made of titanium and sapphire glass - they are strong enough and can work under water, at a depth of up to 30 meters. There is also charge indicator on the side of the watch body. It features applications to view photos, its own calendar, but it has no media player. Maybe Slyde decided not to duplicate functions that everybody has on their cell phones or iPods.

Slyde HD3 will be available in autumn in black and silver colors and the price is not known yet.
